All Buttered Up

This past week, Skyland Resort hosted its annual Apple Butter Festival, and I was there! The weather was great, the crafts were lovely (bought some jewelry), and the crowd was large and full of every breed of dog. Entertainment was provided by the Shenandoah Valley CloggersHigh Ground Blue Grass BandHi-Horse Cloggers, and the Possum Ridge String Band. They were all wonderful. I even tried a set dance with the Hi-Horse Cloggers!

I helped stir the apple butter in a huge copper pot and had a great barbecue lunch with apple fritters for dessert. A short hike afterward was crisp and beautiful. Of course, spotting a rattlesnake was the highlight of seeing wildlife.

Well, I wouldn’t have been as happy about seeing the rattlesnake! But it sounds like you had a great time. Your photos are lovely. And the apple fritters look yummy. (Was this your vacation?? And if so, how was the rest of it?? Ha ha – loved your comment on my blog!)
